I dont know about the west coast but here in the midwest they offer training and in some cases they will pay you while you are working the program they set for you. here the only offense they will not help with is a drug felony. there programs are sponsered by unemployment office. if all else fails go to school.
Beware of rental scams... they are out there and nobody is safe.. I got hit for 1450.00.
I posted an add on craidslist for a room mate. I got a reply and after several emails I told her she could have the room. she was going to send me a check whh she did. Then I got an email from her that her uncle dies. she needed some of the money back. I tild her there was nothing I could do till the check cleared. I checked my balance and it showed the funds availible so I sent her money. 2 days later she was asking for more cash so I checked the bank to find the check was returned. I did some research to find she has been doing this for years. I called the National Fraud Unit and was told there was nothing they could do because I deposited it and wrote funds against it.Right now the police, western frderal trade commision are looking into it.. There are a lot of other places I contacted but dont want to list them becuase she is out there checking out these posts. I know cuz I got an email from her this morning. she is going under the name Tina J Jones email addy email@example.com she also uses several other email addresses. I was told this scam comes from Nigeria and they have runners all over to write the letters and to pick up the money. So becareful and read all the infi you can find on how to protect yourself. dont let your gaurd down like I did....
there is a program where you can buy a house and the mortgage payments are based on your income. google 'section 502' there are 2 types of loans direct and gaurenteed direct. you still have to have decent credit and show you have a history of paying on time. when your app is being processed they automaticaly calc the subsidy for your payment. The house has to be in a rural area and modest in means. your payment including taxes and insurance will be approx 24% of your adjusted gross income. you need to go to an approved hud agency and if you really want to score buy a hud forclosed house. they are cheap and you can include the cost of rehabing the house in the total mortgage. all this is on HUD Freddie Mae and Ginnie Mae. I actually just researched the hell out of this program this week. the goal of this is for people like us to have affordable safe places to live while offering us the dream of home ownership. from what I got out of it is its a great program. I'm in the same boat as you, If I rented a place for 400 I would be right in the middle of the ghetto. I just got out of there. I had crack houses on either side of me, a motorcycle gang across the street.the nights were filled with random gun fire. I moved to where I pay 650 which i cant afford but have learned to live with no cash just to have a quiet safe house to live in...
Thank you and sure I can tell you about my experience. I went to the site and read all the links they have on the site. There goal is to help but they have guidelines. Their mission is to help with the short term emergencies. They will only issue 1 grant to someone up to 00 and they require a lot of info in the app. they want to know how you got in the position to need the funds and what your plans are so you dont end up there again. they focus on requests that will help you to become self-sufficient. I just explained my disability, my income or lack there of and how would the funds would get me in a better place. For me I had a job offer to work from home and I was robbed leaving me without the resources to accept the job and was with out a pc for classes I am starting very soon. my game plan is to be able to transition off of SSDI and become self-sufficient again. I gave then what they wanted in the app. They require a .50 contrabution with the app. and a week later I donated another .00. from there they submit the app to the investers and its up to them who they fund. It takes the investors about 2 weeks to review your app. they keep your app active for 60 days. if it gets funded great if not they remove it from the file. I submitted my app on 4/10 and it was funded today. so just tell them what you need how you got to where you need it and if you get it what is your plan to move forward. and def read all the links so you have more of an idea what they are looking for. now... sorry for the book.. but check them out modestneeds.org I hope this helps..
I wish I had an answer for you. I just sort of jumped in and started chatting people. If someone had a post that I had info on I would share it. if I found some info that was helpful to me I would check it out and try it. I have found this site more helpful than years and lots of cash of therapy. pretty much we are all here in the same boat. so jump on in...you'll make a lot of friends.
there is a couple of different modification programs on the hud web page Im not sure exactly how they work but Obama worked hard on the mortgage/foreclosure epidemic from what I glanced at they looked like they could def help. I wish they were around a couple of years earlier I was one who lost my house and just about crushed me.
there is assistance. I found some programs for a close friend thru Voc Rehab. I also found a couple of staffing agencies that will hire people with felonies. I did find out by trying to help a few friends that if the felony is drug related, it gets a whole lot more difficult to get help. but I would check out your local Voc Rehab they have access to a ton of programs, assistance and grant money. you have to be very persistant. I wish you the best..
I am in the process of transitioning from HIT to a BS in Health Care Admin with an IT minor. The financial dept has been getting me grants above the pell grant and stafford loans.I was told the number of grants avalible in health care was huge. I am meeting with my counselor tomorrow. I will get the info from him. unfortunately,my short term memory is shot or I would give you the info he had me apply for tonight.
In early April someone posted a link for modest needs. I'm sorry I don't remember who it was but thank you so much... I applied for a grant and today I was notified my grant was funded in full. I am blown away but very grateful. My issues with the stolen laptop and the loaner pc from easterseals being returned have been resolved. Modest needs called me to tell me they placed an order for a new laptop. I should have it in about a week. I will be able to accept the WAH job and will be covered when I start school in a couple of weeks. I have a special thanks to starshine who kept sending me positive energy and convincing me to keep the faith.
ok, you got my interest. Will have an operating system installed. The rest of the software I can get. I would really like something that has at least 2g of ram and 120-180g hard drive. I need to be able to burn and play cd/dvd what would that cost and what would the shipping be to Indianapolis IN 46201
some counties are able to apply or assistance online at www.in.gov
they also give you the latest info on what dfr office you can go to in order to apply. Tanf can take up to 30days to process. if you are in a position where you need help now, go to your townships trustees office. they will pay your rent/mortgage utility bills(if they are in disconnect) They have vouchers for food in the form of gift cards to Kroger. They will give buss passes to those trying to get a job. If you want heating or cooling assistance you have to call your local community action group. If you need some kind of medical insurance theres always Wishard Advantage. Indiana has a lot of food pantries as well call 211 for info.
I applied there for help to get a pc. once my app was pr qualified and sent to the investors I sent the link with the app # on it to everywhere and everyone I could think of trying to get the ball rolling. I'll let you know what the outcome is.
